Just Torqued Off
"KABUL, Afghanistan - U.S. troops abandoned a remote outpost in eastern Afghanistan where militants killed nine American soldiers this week and insurgents briefly overran the area, officials said Wednesday, underlining the difficulties faced by forces in the border region. "We are committed, now more than ever, to establishing a secure environment that will allow even greater opportunities for development and a stronger Afghan governmental influence," NATO spokesman Capt. Mike Finney said".
Captain Finney says" now we are committed". This is so much bravo sierra. (phonetic alphabet). Where was the committment before? To see another nine American Soldiers killed in afghanistan and 15 more wounded is an outrage. This coming from a country whos "Military Might" is the absolute best in the world. Afgan soldiers running away from their duties, need to be shot on site. Was there no one on perimeter duty? Being in a volitale area one could presume there was sufficient people on guard duty to protect this compound. Each and every time we set down in Vietnam, well before we ate our LRPS/c-rations we established a perimeter, we had people on guard duty and then rotated each person.
I, believe this commander was derelict in their duties and needs to be sent home for a butt whooping. I am sick and tired of seeing our soldiers being killed or wounded on foreign soil, policing the world, especially when the world doesn't want us. For myself and other like minded veterans, we need to tell those in leadership positions that Americans are standing up for those brave men and women and tell congress enough is enough? One would think (if that's possible) that we need not live in fear, as Pres Bush would have us.
This fear mongering has lead us into a war that honestly we can't win and have no BUSINESS being there. People from foreign countries need to defend themselves and stop relying on American Soldiers, that by virtue of being "under orders" go off to war defending the very freedoms that those poor lost souls have never experienced. While we all want fredom, sometimes a price must be paid for it, as it's not free.
