City Government
Yes Boys and girls, it's true. At first, I thougtht it was just sour grapes. Yet, after an extensive search, Greeley has found a way to increase the city coffers. They decided to fine people $90.00 because the owners had their dogs at a city park, sitting on their laps watching their Grandchildren playing baseball. This is outrageous.
It seems to me, our city government has decided to find more ways to take the enjoyment from those, who work hard and pay taxes in our community. Whether it be our FAMOUS PARADE or STAMPEDE at island grove, they decided for us, we can't use smokeless tobacco, or throw candies to spectators during our parade. Apparently we aren't old enough to make our own decisions. Somehow they feel it's their mandate to tell us what our rights are. I find this attitude appalling on many levels.
Our elected officials have taken it upon themselves to interpret what our consitituional rights are, as long as they don't interfer with the cities (Mayors) adgenda, which I feel isn't clearly defined, yet. Then to fine children $1000.00 for being out late in a city , while the "most wanted" lists of criminals continous to grow. I've heard it suggested that our Mayor will need these funds to stave off possible litigation from body slamming a teenager, whos crime was only being a teenager. Now don't get me wrong. I always (or at least try) to live within the law. I, respect those who have the undanting task of enforcing laws to insure we are still in a free country.
