Mc Can't

John Mc Cain, where are you?

John Mc Cain used to rate so high on my list I considered voting for him over Gore had he beat Bush in the Republican primary of 2000. Though I didn't always agree I respected his standing up for his principles even if that went against the party establishment's wishes. Sadly, that John Mc Cain is gone. The new John Mc Cain has switched positions he's had for years and moved to the right over the past two. He has sold out to the party machine. He has hired the same lobbyists he used to speak out against to run his campaign. He's hired the same smear merchants George Bush and Karl Rove used to defeat him in 2000. You thought they went after Democrats? These guys insinuated Cindy Mc Cain had an extra-marital affair and had a black child. They wondered aloud if his time spent as a POW hadn't made him mentally unstable. (Gee, what would happen if Obama suggested those things?)

Letter to the Times-Call Editor by Kaye Fissinger 8/13/08

My good friend Kaye Fissinger has been embroiled (and I mean that in all metaphorical senses of the word since the lunatic fringe has been flaming her for months) in a long-term battle to help stop the LifeBridge/4C 'Union' development that threatens to turn Longmont into the next Colorado-Springs-style theocratically controlled entity. Here's one of her outstanding Letters to the Editor. Enjoy.

I Agree With Bob Schaffer

... and no, this should not be considered an endorsement, Chairman Mary.

Bob Schaffer finally said something intelligent yesterday. As reported in the Grand Junction Sentinel, Schaffer said that it would be "over (his) cold, dead, political carcass" that John McCain would be able to re-open the Colorado River Compact.

Got Bus?

What is the meaning of the motto for Greeley? "Greeley promotes a healthy, diverse economy and high quality of life responsive to all its residents and neighborhoods, thoughtfully managing its human and natural resources in a manner that creates and sustains a safe, unique, vibrant and rewarding community in which to live and work".

On Vacation,What?

Instead of showing up for our meager jobs, like congress, we need to take a month off and let our country fall further into the abyss. That is the same stinking thinking that has lead us down a path to quite possibly becomming a second, or 3rd rate nation. Now don't get me wrong. I fly my American flag 24/7 365 and would if called upon by my nation to defend her honor on American soil. In an attempt not to use profanity, which I must admit at times, I feel like I am going to burst. I am learning to take the higher ground.

How Dumb is Dumb?

Um, Newt, Sean, Rush, and all you Republicans doing a song and dance on the hill, I have remarkably obvious news. Inflating your tires to the proper pressure does actually save you quite a bit of gas. And to imply that is all Obama’s energy plan amounts to is incredibly dishonest. Obama’s plan calls for clean coal, natural gas, and alternative energy as well as new drilling. It provides incentives to buy fuel efficient vehicles and for our auto manufacturers to make them. He’s even conceded he would accept some off shore leases if it was part of a comprehensive plan.

Obama Knocks Pt. 2

He has unsavory people around him:

Tony Rezko, felonious, unsavory part of a scene of corrupt Chicago politics. Obama did a little land deal with him that was unethical. Barack admitted it was a "bonehead thing to do." No favors were granted, no criminal wrong doing and not exactly a financial boon. This is a legitimate concern. However when all the facts are looked at it appears to be just as Obama put it, a bonehead move on his part. Not to be excused, but all in all, not that big a deal. Unless we find out more which is unlikely. Rezko is being sent up the river for corruption. During his trial nothing came up regarding Obama and it doesn't appear Rezko has anything to offer to lighten his sentence. It should be noted Rezko did have a fund raiser for Obama a while back as well.

Obama Knocks Pt.1

Recent knocks on Barack Obama have been;

He’s arrogant:

as far as I can tell this is based on a spliced quote “This is the moment . . . that the world is waiting for," adding: "I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions." As appeared in the Washington Post. The full quote “It has become increasingly clear in my travel, the campaign, that the crowds, the enthusiasm, 200,000 people in Berlin, is not about me at all. It's about America. I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.” Seems to directly contradict the notion that he’s arrogant.

Amy K. Mann: 'I am a Christian, therefore, a Democrat'

I didn't get it nearly twenty-years ago when I served as President of College Democrats at UNC in Greeley. I didn't understand the depth of my beliefs when I worked various Democratic campaigns in the late eighties and early nineties. Even when I served as an intern in Washington D.C, I was passionate about the issues, but I didn't understand why, I get it now: I am a Democrat because I am a Christian.

Right wing lies about oil

These are popular lies from the right that have been repeated over the past couple of weeks. I'm sure you've heard them

Lie:There was no oil spilled during Hurricane Katrina.

According to the National Response Center 595 spills occurred as a result of Hurricane's Rita and Katrina causing one of the worst environmental disasters in our history dumping an estimated 9 million gallons of oil. The EPA called this the "worst of the worst case scenario."
